I’ve just returned from a whirlwind visit to Morecambe. A trip that, emotionally, weighed equal, in both grief and happiness. The loss of a beloved family member is never easy, but losing the grand matriarch, although expected, seems to denote the end of a chapter. But, in dealing with the aftermath, as a family, we all came together, to aid, to sooth, to give comfort and to rejoice in the parts we all play in this chaotic, but resilient family we have. ... . The glorious Art Deco Midland Hotel played its part in the healing process... the incredible staircase, for me, resembles a stairway to heaven! Weirdly, if you turn the photo upside down, the staircase still works!? . . . #stairwaytoheaven #artdecoarchitecture #themidlandhotelmorecambe #icubritain #terrificview #stairsofinstagram #lovegreatbritain #bytheseaside #staircase #morecambe
How fabulous was that weather yesterday? 👍🏻🙋🏼‍♀️ Wall to wall sunshine ☀️!! . . St Martins Organic Cafe with its 18th Century facade and enchanting little garden was the perfect spot to enjoy an afternoon cup of tea and chat with friends. Thanks @hopkins.jill and all for a very pleasant afternoon. . . . #Chichester #myhappyplace #organiccafe #experiencewestsussex #ourbritain #18thcentury #icubritain #georgianarchitecture #bluesky #springflowers #enclosedgarden #tearoomgarden
Back in Midhurst... no surprise there, it’s been one of the only dry weekends we’ve had, to take photos!! But this weekend looks promising 🤞🏻🤞🏻. . I love a good church porch and this one, is only the entrance to the grave yard! The parish church of St. Mary Magdalene and St. Denis (forgive my ignorance but who is St Denis?!) is possibly the oldest building in Midhurst dating back to the Normans. What tales this church could tell!.. . . #talestotell #church #normanchurch #ourbritain #ourhistory #normanbritain #weekendwanders #midhurst #englandsbigpicture #facadedetail #villagelife #icubritain #lovegreatbritain #happywanderer
We enjoyed such a lovely day of sunshine yesterday, resulting in a spectacular sunset. I was recently told that you can tell an estate by its colours. Hmmm interesting 🤔. None more so obvious than the Cowdray Estate in Midhurst where many of the homes sport this golden yellow on their woodwork. Some believe that the yellow colour was chosen due to the 1st Viscount Cowdray’s connection to the Liberal Party?! Really?! Not convinced by this notion, what about you?. . Whatever the truth behind the choice of colour, this particular property really stands out for me. So much detail going on in this frontage! I’m no expert, is this Edwardian? . . . . #shadesofyellow #doorsofinstagram #doorsofbritain #facadedetail #experiencewestsussex #sussex #englandsbigpicture #lovegreatbritain #ourbritain #icubritain #happywanderer #historicarchitecture #architecturaldelight #weekendtime
The rain is back!! Now, I do understand that rain is good for the garden, but really??! 😤🤷🏼‍♀️ . . Swiftly moving on... Midhurst, is a delightful little market town, it’s architecture takes you on a fascinating journey through the centuries. I spotted, elements of Victorian, Edwardian, Georgian and Tudor architecture. I’ve been woefully remiss in not taking the time to stop and wander, instead of driving through; it’s a small town with a big history. . . #smalltownbighistory #midhurst #embracingtheseasons #prettylittletrips #icubritain #lovegreatbritain #genuinebritain #searchwandercollect #bbcsussex #pavetheway #inspiremyinstagram #britain
